Real Zaragoza 1 - 4 FC Barcelona Full Match

A few of FC Barcelona’s players spoke to the press after Saturday’s victory over Zaragoza. Captain Carles Puyol began by mentioning the form of Barça’s latest opponents, saying, “we knew Zaragoza were having a good run of results and playing good football. That gives even more importance to our victory. We have done our job and there is still some more League [games] to be played.” Puyol suffered a cut on his eyebrow which had to be stapled on the sidelines of the pitch during the match to stop the bleeding. But he made a joke out of it afterwards, spoken like as a true Tarzan: “Too bad the staple didn’t count as a point to reduce the gap with Madrid.” In Spanish, ลิงก์staple and point are id the same way.

Cesc also shared his thoughts on the evening’s game: “It was a tough win, but we did our job and showed the character needed to get through it. They had their chances and played good football, but we had a lot of chances to score too, that we didn’t take. It was a tough game, not played in ideal conditions [referring to the pitch], but we are happy to get a deserved victory.”

Víctor Valdés was very happy to save Aranda’s penalty, an action that could have been decisive. The keeper stated, “I try to study the players we face to be prepared [in case of penalties] … that play helped us to pass by a bad moment of the game. As for tomorrow, we have done what we had to do, now they [Real Madrid] have to … we will see.”
